ESEA
ESEA refers to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act first enacted in April, 1965. At its inception, this legislation was designed to allow children of all races and income levels equal access to a good education and to establish high standards and accountability for teaching. This act provides federal funding for professional development as well as instructional materials and resources used to improve teaching and learning. Since 1965, the ESEA has been reauthorized several times, most recently in 2002 as
No Child Left Behind or what is widely known as NCLB.
