RTI -- Literacy A-Z

RTI

RTI, or Response to Intervention, is a system designed to provide early, effective assistance to children experiencing learning difficulties. This multi-tiered system of intervention seeks to prevent academic failure by holding schools accountable for:
  • Identifying students at-risk of performing poorly in school
  • Closely monitoring student progress
  • Providing evidence-based interventions
  • Adjusting the intensity and nature of interventions based on student responsiveness
In an effort to maximize student achievement and reduce the number of behavior problems, Response to Intervention places the onus on individual teachers to prove that they have done everything possible to provide the type and quality of instruction needed to help struggling students who don’t necessarily qualify for special education services.
