Summarization

Summarization is a written account of the main ideas of a text. Shorter than the original text, a summary reflects the structure, order, and most important details and ideas expressed in a text. Summarizing is often used interchangeably with the word retelling. The main distinction between these two terms is that summarization is a written account while retelling is primarily an oral event.
