Conference -- Literacy A-Z

Conference

A conference is a conversation between a teacher and student about the child’s experiences with the learning processes involved in reading and writing. Defined by its predictable structure of research, teach, try, conferences aim to pursue distinct lines of thinking with students. The conversation at the beginning of a conference helps teachers to identify a teaching point and find a way to scaffold and reinforce student learning. The ultimate goal of every conference is to customize instruction in a way that best supports individual learners on a path to becoming more proficient readers and writers.
