Flexible Grouping

Flexible grouping is the practice of grouping students based on the goals, activities, and individual needs of the learners in a classroom.
 
Grouping can be flexible in that it allows teachers to choose from several grouping options:
Or it can be flexible in that groups are not stagnant. Members are grouped and regrouped based upon their progress and facility with teaching points and objectives. 
 
Flexible grouping allows teachers to differentiate and customize reading and writing instruction to best reflect the needs of the learners being taught.
