Accuracy

Accuracy is the percentage of words read correctly in an oral reading sample. Reading accuracy is one piece of information used to determine a child’s independent, instructional, and frustration reading levels. The errors a child makes when calculating accuracy provide teachers with important information about a child’s reading process and helps them better understand a child’s ability to use letter-sound knowledge to decode text.
